Debora Patta Nominated for a News Emmy

Cape Town – Debora Patta has been nominated for a news Emmy for her work as the Africa correspondent for the American TV network CBS on their show, CBS Evening News.

After her incisive court coverage of the Oscar Pistorius trial, Patta filed a multitude of stories the past year from across Africa and travelling to several nations, scooping arresting interviews and exclusive and eye-popping stories.

Patta is nominated for a story The War Against Ebola, covering the Ebola ravaged Liberia last year in October.

She is one of the few South African journalists who travelled there and stayed for a week and a half to report daily for the American TV network's news service.

Her CBS Evening News story is nominated in the Emmy category Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story in a regularly scheduled newscast.

The half hour news bulletin CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley is broadcast on Sky News (DStv 402) daily, with the seasoned Patta who's also made appearances on other CBS news programming via satellite ranging from Face the Nation to CBS This Morning.

This year alone, Patta, a mother of two, has logged thousands of air miles, out-travelled as an investigative TV journalist on the African continent by only Sky News' Alex Crawford.

The category winners of the 36th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards will be announced in New York on 28 September at the Lincoln Center.
